Nicolle Isaacs Smith -
Losing her job as a Retail Buyer & Shop Manager seemed to be the complete demise of the ORGINAL “Material Girl” When in fact it was the dawn of a bright new adventure. Nicolle Isaacs Smith had been talking to a close friend on the phone about what her next step would be; Event planning business, Wine tasting shop with a local artisan twist, or just go back to the daily grid of corporate blah these were all the thoughts and long conversations over the phone for a month or so. AND THEN…AH-HA! Nicolle’s friend Tammye Delk Van Clief says “What do you think about opening a shop/studio in Cape Charles?” Nicolle said “let’s see what we can find” and born from that conversation was La Mer Design; a design studio in Cape Charles, focusing on interior design, vintage furniture and accessories and EVENT planning. Nicolle is known for her vivacious style and eye for exceptional goods & art. Her friends says she is an artist Nicolle says no, “I am a facilitator and a task master”. Her real passion is bringing anyone’s style and or art to the light. “The big award in doing what I do is at the end the look on my clients face it says it all” Nicolle says “whether it’s design work in a home or planning an event” “Revealing the story is the hardest and the best work ever” Nicolle grew up in Northern Virginia and landed in Cape Charles to work for Bay Creek Resort. Where she met her husband Michael and had their beautiful daughter Grace Guthrie. Nicolle now lives with her family in Eastville at Coventon a historical home that Nicolle has beautifully blended the past with the present. From her experience in planning large events like Civil War re-enactments at the Inn at Kelly’s Ford in Remington and golf outings, anniversary parties and of course weddings as the Director of Sale at Stonewall Golf Club in Gainesville Nicolle has really cultivated a unique style in planning events. “I think any event should always be special and celebrated in a personal way that reflects the story of the hosts” “from a child’s birthday party to a large fundraiser all these occasions are important and distinctive in their own way” “ If you are throwing a “party” it should be worth it” Nicolle says.
